Rahat Hayat, widely known by his stage name DJ Rahat, has long been a household name in Bangladesh’s music scene. With over two decades of experience behind the decks, DJ Rahat has earned a solid reputation for his ability to energize audiences and create unforgettable party experiences. Now, the renowned DJ is embarking on a groundbreaking project aimed at reshaping the way Bengali music is presented at DJ parties.
In an innovative move, Rahat Hayat is transforming more than thirty popular folk songs into dynamic dance formats, making them suitable for the high energy environment of modern DJ events. The project, which also includes ten brand new original tracks, features the voices of some of the country’s most celebrated singers, including Shafi Mondol, Dolly Shayantoni, Pintu Ghosh, Anika, Shuvo, Imran, Milon, Abanti Sithi and Kornia. DJ Rahat himself has arranged the music, infusing the traditional tunes with electronic beats and modern rhythms to create a unique fusion that bridges cultural heritage with contemporary party vibes.
The music videos for these tracks are currently being filmed at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) in Kawran Bazar, Dhaka. Speaking about the initiative, DJ Rahat shared,
“As a professional DJ, my main goal is to make people dance. I am remaking popular folk songs in a dance format so that they can be played alongside Hindi and English tracks at DJ parties. Traditionally, Bengali songs are often left out in such settings, but my aim is to change that and allow performers to include Bengali music in a vibrant, modern DJ set.”

This ambitious project is slated for release throughout 2025 on DJ Rahat’s YouTube channel, giving music lovers across the country access to a fresh, dance ready collection of Bengali folk and original songs. Since launching his career in 2004, DJ Rahat has released nine albums and built a legacy as one of Bangladesh’s most innovative DJs. With this new venture, he is poised to redefine the presence of Bengali music in the DJ scene, ensuring that traditional tunes continue to resonate on dance floors for years to come.
