In this exclusive interview, we dive into his musical journey, milestone moments and vision for the future of DJ culture in Bangladesh.
Deshi DJ: How did your DJ career begin?
DJ AKS: I started during my high school days in Dubai, playing at friends’ gatherings and small events. Those nights taught me how the right track could flip the energy in a room instantly. Around the same time, I dove into music production with Propellerheads Reason 1.0 , just me, my computer, and endless hours of trial and error. That curiosity turned into a lifelong passion.

Deshi DJ: What was it like being signed to Universal Music India and working on the Enrique Iglesias remix?
DJ AKS: Signing with Universal was a turning point. Getting the opportunity to work on an official remix for Enrique Iglesias was surreal ,suddenly my sound wasn’t just local anymore, it was part of the global conversation.
Deshi DJ: And your collaborations with Neha Kakkar?
DJ AKS: Both Neha and Tony Kakkar have always been tredning. They understand what’s trending but bring their own magic to it. I’ve worked on remixes for tracks like Hanju and Akhiyan, and the creative chemistry is always electric.

Deshi DJ: Tell us about the Guinness World Record in 2013.
DJ AKS: I was one of the curators for the 119 DJs who came together at the Music X Festival to break the Guinness World Record for the largest DJ session. It wasn’t just about the record , it was about proving what happens when an entire community unites behind a shared beat.
Deshi DJ: What inspired you to start Cue & Play?
DJ AKS: The idea had been with me for years. I believe the global experience I’ve gained can help the next generation of DJs in Bangladesh. Cue & Play is a one-stop platform where students can refine their DJing skills, from beat mixing and musicality to event management, and learn directly from someone who’s been in their shoes.

Deshi DJ: How do you see DJ culture evolving in Bangladesh?
DJ AKS: DJ culture looks different in every country. Here, there’s a surge in private events, underground parties, and weddings. My goal is to make aspiring DJs understand the variety of opportunities available and help them find their own niche in this expanding scene.
Deshi DJ: Your most unforgettable moment on stage?
DJ AKS: In 2012, at the Army Stadium in Dhaka, I played for a crowd of about 20,000 alongside the legendary band MILES. We dropped two live remixes of their hits Priyotoma Megh and Dhiki Dhiki, and the crowd went wild. After our set, Ayub Bachchu from LRB told me he loved how punchy the mix sounded , a compliment from a legend that I’ll carry forever.
Deshi DJ: What advice do you have for newcomers?
DJ AKS: Follow trends, but don’t rely solely on them. Learn the basics, understand the roots of music, and then build your own style. That’s how you stay relevant and authentic.
Deshi DJ: What does the future of DJing look like to you?
DJ AKS: I see DJing becoming more interactive, collaborative, and inclusive. The lines between DJs and live musicians will keep blurring, creating shows where beats, instruments, and performance merge into one unforgettable experience.
